Space-Efficient Hangers
Using matching hangers across my apartment has made everything look so much tidier, especially since my clothing racks are on display. I highly recommend getting velvet hangers. I’ve relied on velvet hangers for years and can’t recommend them enough!
Efficient Use of Clothing Racks for Extra Storage
I have two clothing racks in my apartment to manage the overflow from my closet. One, a customizable rack positioned by my desk, holds all my blouses, skirts, and matching sets. The other is placed near my window, where I hang new arrivals, planned outfits, or freshly dry-cleaned pieces. This rack is more mobile, making it easy to move around as needed!
Maximizing Space with a Storage Bed
A storage bed (or any kind of under-bed storage) is essential for keeping seasonal items organized. I have one drawer dedicated to swim and resort wear, another for boots, and one for jackets and loungewear. This helps a great deal in maximizing space, and the other great thing is that people would not really know that you are storing anything there under your bed.
Versatile Storage Ottomans
My storage ottomans have been a game-changer for managing bulky items. In one, I store my scarves and cold-weather accessories, while the other holds my thick, chunky sweaters. These ottomans save me from using up precious closet and drawer space. Plus, they double as extra seating when guests are over, making them both stylish and functional!
Maximizing Storage with Vacuum-Seal Bags
When it comes to storing bulky seasonal items like coats and blanket scarves, vacuum-seal bags are essential—and honestly, they’re pretty fun to use too! These bags allow me to double (and sometimes even triple) my storage space. I rely on them for organizing both my ottoman and storage bed.
Creative Hat Storage Ideas
Hats have always been a challenging accessory to store, so I decided to incorporate them into my décor! I opted for simple nails to hang my hats on the wall, but if you’d prefer a damage-free option, Command hooks work great too.
Creative Ways to Store Your Sunglasses
For a long time, I struggled with how to store my sunglasses. I used to keep them in a glass box on my dresser, but it quickly became overcrowded and made the space feel cluttered. I noticed several of my friends using nail polish racks as sunglass holders on their walls, and I knew I needed to try something similar. I decided the back of my closet doors would be the best spot to hang them. I was lucky to find a set of six narrow racks that fit perfectly on my slim doors. The racks come with screws for wall mounting, but instead of drilling, I opted for heavy-duty command strips to avoid damaging my doors.
If you have a little extra wall space, I highly recommend these racks. Alternatively, for a countertop option, you could try a stadium-style stand.
Stylish Handbag Storage Solutions
I have various storage spots for my handbags, both in my closet and around my apartment. Inside my closet, I arrange my bags on the shelf above my clothes, organizing them by size: larger totes and bags on the far right and smaller bags and clutches to the left. To maximize space, I repurposed old shoe racks to stack the smaller bags. For extra organization, I recommend using clear shelf dividers to keep your bags from scratching each other.
The rest of my collection is displayed throughout my apartment, adding a touch of decor. I use two narrow étagères by the window, a circular shelf in the corner by my dresser, and these marble shelves (with matching brackets) above my desk. These shelves allow me to showcase my handbags as if I were styling my very own boutique!
Jewelry & Accessory Organization Solutions
I never had an effective way to organize my jewelry until I moved into this apartment. Previously, I relied on a small jewelry box, nails in the wall, and various dishes scattered around my room. Over time, it became a bit chaotic, and I realized I needed a more organized, centralized solution. Some friends of mine have a jewelry armoire I had considered, but it would have taken up too much space. That’s when I started exploring wall-mounted jewelry options and discovered a mirror/jewelry storage combo! While the exact one I purchased is no longer available, you can find similar ones here, here, and here. They come in different styles—some can be mounted on the wall, others have hooks to hang over a door, or they come with stands to sit separately.
To add a little extra sparkle in my entryway, I’ve also incorporated shadow boxes, which have been a huge hit with visitors! These boxes allow me to display more jewelry, accessories, and even some of my favorite photos. They come with a few pins, but you can easily add your own, and they’re simple to hang either horizontally or vertically.
For my headbands and belts, I use clear drawers in my media chest for quick and easy access. I roll my belts and stagger my headbands to make everything easier to find. As a decorative touch, I’ve placed some headbands in a rose vase to add a little flair to the space!
Showcasing My Shoe Storage Solutions
It’s no secret that my shoe cabinets are the highlight of my apartment. If I ever move to a larger space, it will feel so strange not having these cases front and center in my living room. The bookcase comes with five shelves, but I added six more in each case to maximize the space. Not a fan of full glass doors? No problem—you can opt for cabinets with glass only on the upper half. If you wear larger shoe sizes, you might even consider going doorless.
Inside my closet, I also have a foldable shoe rack that holds 8–10 pairs. It helps keep the chaos in check, and I use it for my everyday shoes and sneakers since they’re a bit more worn compared to the prettier pairs on display in the cabinets.
Hidden Storage Space Under the Couch
There’s a bit of extra space under my couch, hidden by a dust skirt, that I’ve utilized with flexible storage bags. It’s perfect for stashing seasonal shoes that I don’t wear year-round. This clever trick has become one of my favorite space-saving solutions in my apartment!
Maximizing Under-Cabinet Storage
With limited cabinet space, it’s crucial to make the most of every inch. In both my bathroom and kitchen, I utilize self-adhesive containers on the backs of the cabinet doors to store items like brushes, hair tools, nail polishes, dish towels, and cleaning supplies. These containers are easy to install—just peel and stick—and can hold a significant amount of weight. For accessing the back of my kitchen cabinets, I use a sliding and stackable drawer to organize many of my cleaning supplies efficiently.
These are just some of the tips and tricks you can use to help make your life that little bit easier when it comes to saving space. Any other tricks we missed here for wardrobe storage solutions, then please drop us a line.
